Level 2 – Special Announcement from the ADA (Australian Dental Association)

For all of our patients and expanded dental team and families, I thought I would share the latest update on Essential Dental Services – please refer to the information at the end of this notice.

Simply Beautiful Smiles is part an Essential Service Profession and is currently fully available for continued care of our patients and community.

We are currently at Level 2 Essential Dental Services restrictions, which still means most available treatments are able to be routinely performed whilst continuing to provide a very safe environment for our patients, the dentist and our nursing team. The main focus will be minimising harm to your oral health and we will continue to treat those necessary conditions. We are also available for emergency dental treatment where needed.

At this point in time, it is expected that Level 2 restrictions will be implemented until April 30th 2020.

Standard infection control guidelines are more than adequate for the task.  At Level 2, in some cases dental procedures may be deferred if the patients’ dental and general welfare is not at risk and these procedures may can be discussed with your doctor as appropriate.

We are here and willing to assist you as always, even in these difficult times. Should you need to talk to your dentist about your up-coming procedures, please feel free to call and we will help you with any questions you may have.

From my desk, I wish you all well, keep yourselves safe and please share a smile with someone who needs one.

Kind regards

John

“Over the last few days, the ADA (Australian Dental Association) has been providing expert advice to the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) and the Chief Medical Officer on a framework to support the continuation of essential dental service. This is based on a staged, proportionate, pre-planned response to the escalation of COVID-19.

We have been working with the government who is satisfied at this time that the frameworks that have been developed and the work of the ADA Infection Control Committee are sufficient at this point in time to protect the public, dentists and their staff given the current risk environment. We believe that it’s important that we partner with government and regulators to continue to ensure everyone is kept safe in these unprecedented and challenging times.”
